Al-Maqasid Seminary Life (A Video)

Last night I attended the Al-Maqasid Annual Benefit Dinner. It was a beautiful event, and I was honored and blessed to be a part of it.
As you know, I’ve been attending Al-Maqasid since August of 2023. It’s been challenging, and the schedule at times is quite rigorous. Arabic is a beautiful, though notoriously difficult, language to master, and much of our curriculum centers around learning, reading, writing, and praying in Arabic. That said, the absolute blessing of Al-Maqasid — at least for me — is the fellowship that I’ve found here. I have a debt of gratitude to everyone involved — from Shaykh Yahya Rhodus, to all my instructors and teachers, to my brothers in the seminary, to all the community members here… the feeling here is not so much a school or even a religious community — rather, it is more like family. The love and care for each other that I’ve seen at Al-Maqasid is simply unparallel. (And I’ve written about this elsewhere.)
What I want to draw everyone’s attention to is the absolutely beautiful video that Al-Maqasid produced and premiered at the benefit dinner. Often people ask what we ‘do’ at Al-Maqasid. As Shaykh Yahya and some of the speakers attest to in the video, it is often difficult to say, exactly, what Al-Maqasid *is*. Is it a school? A community? An institute? A place for spiritual retreats? It is all these things… and more than that. It is a place for building people, spiritually — men and women of God who can serve the Ummah.
I think the below video gives a wonderful glimpse at what we do at Al-Maqasid— as well as the beautiful community here.
May Allah continue to bless Shaykh Yahya and all the instructors and people here at Al-Maqasid. May their work be the seed of many openings and of the flourishing of Islam in America.
